TWO WEEKS IN

Already two weeks since we started this process! I feel like we have accomplished so much already:

-Gathered/turned in applications from Reece's Rainbow, our adoption agency, and a local social worker for our home study
-Fingerprints at the state police &sent off background checks
-Received all birth certificates and marriage license
-Prepared almost all paperwork needed on home study check list
-We both have done lab work for our physicals
-Obtained pet vaccination certificate from vet
-Psych Eval completed for Lance, mine is tomorrow
-Physical completed for me, Lance next Tues.

So, the big things left to complete are:
-Autobiography
-Adoption Training
-Home visit from Social Worker/waiting for draft of home study to be completed
-Waiting for Psych Evaluation Report (1st week of August)

I feel pretty good with how smoothly things have come together so far. I am grateful for every day that goes by that things fall into place quickly, knowing that somewhere along this process we will hit road bumps, they are inevitable.

I am overwhelmed by the support we have received! We really do have the best friend/family group. We are constantly showered with love and encouragement  They are waiting in the wings to help in any way. Already a few of my closest friends have helped to organize our first fundraiser August 20th, a garage sale at a golf course here in town. Its an annual HUGE garage sale that the entire golf course community puts on. We have received blessing from my "mom-in-town's" neighbor, who is an adoptive mom herself and was thrilled to help out. Many have already donated items to sell to help us get this fundraising off with a BANG! So, if you are in the area and want to donate items to sell, we will take it!

I have a CRAZY day tomorrow. Work from 6:30a-8:00a, Rowdy Audiologist appt 8:30, Psych Eval @ 1pm, possibly need to fill in for softball game for church league 8:30p!! Then leaving early Friday morning to go camping 6 hrs away. We lead busy lives that's for sure. I plan to bring my computer, go sit in the woods and write my autobiography while Nana and Gpa watch a certain busy busy 2 year old little boy so I can have a moment of silence. Ahhh....sleepy time.

What blessing to have all these things be coming together so smoothly - definitely a sign that this is the direction the Lord has chosen! I'll check with Isaac to see if we have some items to contribute to the sale! We're praying! :)

I'm praying for you today with your super busy schedule and will also be praying that the words for your autobiography will flow out of your mind and onto your laptop with supernatural ease and clarity. Remember to enjoy the journey and not just the destination!

Love, Mom

I am so thankful that Mary is going to have a home. I too fell in love with her when I saw her photo a month ago. I wish you love, success and many blessings on your journey that lies ahead. I saw your blog on the 'new commitments' page on Reece's Rainbow. Congrats. Mary is beautiful!!!

Hi Erika! My husband and I are adopting through RR right now too. Don't forget to apply for your FBI background checks as soon as they tell you to...we are held up by them for 8 weeks now :( Feel free to email me if you have any questions, or get to the point where you need to vent!

I am so grateful to be a part of this journey!
I agree with the advise on "the process"...our Lord does so much in the midst of it all coming together.
The people you encounter that you never would have otherwise, people hearing your amazing surrender and examining their own hearts.
I have forwarded the first initial story to everyone in the office and I know the Spirit of God is awakening awareness of Him through your experiences :)
I will pray for you Erika and Lance and btw, yes, Mary is beautiful!
